Don't Say That You Love Me

About this poem: This really evolved from a situation where a really good friend professed love which was so not what I wanted to hear (or expected) and the second being my own recognition that perhaps one of the reasons why I didn't want to hear it was because of my own fears about love and relationships.
Don’t say that you love me, I don’t want to know.
You’re taking this somewhere, I don’t want to go.
Please don’t mistake my friendship, think it might be more;
Friendship is the only thing I feel at my core.
If you say the words to me, even that will end.
It will be too strange for me, to stay as your friend.
All you have is just a crush, it will disappear
Don’t say that you love me, those are words I fear.
